gsc-cli

Introduction

Meet gsc-cli, an independent, unofficial open-source CLI for Google Search Console, built for people and coding agents.

gsc-cli (gsc) is a command-line interface for Google Search Console. Sign in with your Google account, then read search performance, see how Google indexed your pages, manage sitemaps and properties, and export your data from your terminal.

It is built for people and coding agents alike. Every command can print JSON, writes can be previewed with --dry-run, and --read-only blocks every change.

The binary is gsc. gsc auth login opens your browser once and keeps the login in your OS keychain; access tokens refresh automatically after that.

What it covers

  • Search performance: totals that match the Performance report, top queries, pages, countries, devices, and search appearances, and trends by hour, day, week, or month.
  • Every Search Analytics option: seven dimensions, six search types, filters with regular expressions, final, preliminary, and hourly data, and every row Google exposes, well past the web UI's 1,000-row table.
  • Comparisons: any period against the one before it or the same dates a year earlier, with rows missing from one period reported as null, not zero.
  • URL Inspection: Google's indexed view of one URL or a batch, paced under the quota.
  • Sitemaps and properties: list, check, submit, and delete sitemaps; list, add, and remove properties.
  • Bulk export: day-by-day CSV or NDJSON files that resume after an interruption.
  • Insights: striking-distance queries, low CTR for the position, cannibalization, decliners, and new and lost queries, computed locally with their thresholds printed.
  • Anything else: gsc api sends an authenticated request to any Search Console API method.

Each of the 10 active Search Console API methods has a command. The API coverage page maps them one by one. Search Console data has rules that are easy to miss, such as preliminary days, anonymized queries, and row caps; Reading the data explains them.
