Bing Webmaster Tools
Read Bing Webmaster Tools traffic, queries, pages and crawl health with the bwt CLI in read-only mode.
What it covers
Bing Webmaster Tools shows Bing search traffic, top queries and pages, crawl statistics and crawl problems, sitemaps, and what Bing knows about a URL.
Connect
Bing has no environments, and one API key covers every site in the account, so
make one shared connection. The provider is bing; the CLI is bwt.
reckon connect bing --org acme --provider bingRun the login yourself in a terminal:
reckon login bingIt runs bwt auth login, which takes your API key at a hidden prompt and
stores it in the OS keychain. Reckon gives this CLI your real home directory so
the keychain works, and keeps its config per connection. The key is in Bing
Webmaster Tools under Settings, API Access, API Key.
Or fill in ~/.reckon/orgs/acme/secrets/bing.env:
BWT_API_KEY=replace_meBWT_ACCESS_TOKEN works instead of BWT_API_KEY. BWT_SITE sets a default
site.
reckon verify bing runs bwt auth status --verify -o json.
Read-only contract
Reckon runs bwt with BWT_READ_ONLY=true and BWT_NO_INPUT=true, so the CLI
refuses URL and sitemap submissions, IndexNow submissions, setting changes and
every other remote write. It also refuses --access-token, --api-key,
--profile, --config, --read-only and --no-input, and the auth login,
auth logout, auth use, config, sites use, indexnow key and update
commands. The agent picks a site per command with --site.
Key commands
reckon run bing -- sites list -o json
reckon run bing -- stats summary --days 28 --compare previous -o json
reckon run bing -- stats queries --sort clicks --limit 100 -o json
reckon run bing -- stats pages --sort clicks --limit 100 -o json
reckon run bing -- crawl stats -o json
reckon run bing -- crawl issues -o json
reckon run bing -- url info https://www.example.com/pricing -o json
reckon run bing -- sitemaps list -o jsonBing returns its own top rows with no server-side date range or paging, and
bwt filters dates locally, so its numbers are not complete history. An empty
crawl issues list does not prove the site has none.
