Quick start
Log in, pick a site, and run your first Bing Webmaster Tools commands with bwt.
1. Log in
bwt auth loginbwt opens Bing Webmaster Tools. Under Settings > API Access > API Key, generate or copy your key
and paste it at the hidden prompt. The key is checked, saved in your OS keychain, and your only site
(or the one you pick) becomes the default.
2. Check your sites
bwt sites list
bwt sites use https://www.example.com/ # change the default site
bwt auth status # the active credential and siteUse site URLs exactly as sites list prints them, with the scheme and trailing slash. --site (or
-s) picks a site for one command, and a bare host such as example.com works when it matches one
of your sites.
3. Read your performance
bwt stats summary --compare previous # the latest 28 days against the 28 before
bwt stats queries --sort clicks --limit 20
bwt stats pages --sort impressions --limit 20 -o csv > pages.csv4. Check crawl health
bwt crawl stats
bwt crawl issues
bwt sitemaps list
bwt quota5. Tell search engines what changed
bwt submit urls https://www.example.com/new-page --dry-run # see the request first
bwt submit urls https://www.example.com/new-page
bwt indexnow key generate # then upload KEY.txt to your site's root
bwt indexnow key check
bwt indexnow submit https://www.example.com/new-pageA new site, or one with little traffic, returns no performance or crawl rows for a while. bwt says
so on stderr rather than leaving you with an unexplained empty table.
